There is much talk happening on how to solve the so-called cost-of-living crisis. Most of it fails to recognise that the problem is much bigger than that: the whole economy is in meltdown. None seems to address the cost of energy itself. A thread on the last, vital, point….
Apparently Reform’s Richard Tice wants a referendum on FPTP/PR.
We actually had a Referendum on this not too long ago, and the result was the will of the people.
Do you mean… We can redo a Referendum when the public mood changes?
Noted.
I find it remarkably moving to see a Labour Cabinet meet for the first time in 14 years, to see a Labour PM take a press conference with calm competence and transparency and to think how many things are now possible that were unthinkable only 72 hours ago.
The most powerful impression of @Keir_Starmer press conference was that we are returning to serious grown up politics and government. Not a day too soon. The focus on ministerial standards was welcome. Devoting Day 2 to meetings with First Ministers or Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland was a great sign after the contempt shown to them by the Tories in recent years. Ditto Metro Mayors Day 3. And it was like a breath of fresh air to hear and see the focus on prisons. The @JamesTCobbler appointment is inspired. Also if I can tell @Emmabarnett of another swimming pool chat - Jason from Yorkshire said it was amazing how much stronger and more confident KS looked since actually winning. That is the power of the office.

Having been forced to deal with this 2019 intake cockhead mocking me for thanking The Samaritans, I’d like to personally say, off you fuck to Brendan Clarke Smith.
Good luck trying to get a job you vile piece of shit. Bravo to the 18,476 people in Bassetlaw with sense.
@nextofficial most rude member of staff I've ever experienced in your Bishop's Stortford shop. Just spent £46. You'll never get another penny out of me.
Imagine if a referendum were held in which 52% of those who voted declared that the Earth was flat.
And that subsequently everyone in the UK was forced to behave as if the Earth was indeed flat, and all main parties said "Ok, flat it is. Evidence be damned."
That's Brexit.
Does any one else have it with @three, where they have 2 or 3 or 4 bars of 4G signal, yet the Internet doesn't work properly? I find Three is generally very poor - speeds and coverage
I wonder if Brexit mad Tim Martin has any regrets now?
I mean, what a complete and utter fool with so much product coming in from the EU and a majority of his staff from there too.
Idiocy personified.
