I grew up in Uyo where Reverend Dr. Uma Ukpai used to and has continued to organize his yearly programme called “BREAKING CURSES AND COVENANTS”.

I attended it once or twice and I asked myself, when will the so-called curses and covenants be broken? We have been cursing our corrupt politicians but they are getting more brazen by the day and most of them live long.

I have not lost my faith, but I have lost interest in such adventures.

The same Uma Ukpai has many business investments and has not been derailed by curses and covenants.

If “curses and covenants” have to be broken every year, it’s either they do not exist or the prayers are not working. Who laid the curses? Who entered into the covenants? How come in the Western world people do not bother about “curses and covenants”?

Most of the things we bother God with in Nigeria and Africa are as a result of failure of governance. If government is efficient, we will not be praying relentlessly about many things.

I am a Christian, but not a fanatic.

Yesterday, we received Mr. Peter Obi at Little Rayfield on a visit to commiserate with Plateau people, over the recent unprovoked attacks particularly in Mangu and Riyom Local Government Areas.

Mr. Peter Obi had since yesterday proceeded to celebrate his 62nd birthday with the IDPs in Mangu LGA. We are grateful for this kind gesture, and are reminded that in one spirit, whatever affects a part affects all.

I want to reassure the people of Plateau State that we are doing everything possible to bring this menace to an end.
