i attended taeyeon’s concert for the first time since being her fan since 2012. as a fan, there’s a tendency to always be biased or maybe even hypercritical but honestly nothing today was disappointing. absolutely nothing.

taeyeon never had anything to prove to me because i always trusted she delivered amazing concerts and fantastic vocals, but today i was finally able to experience first hand what a “perfect performer” she is.

taeyeon always said what she loves to do is sing and today she displayed that. she welcomed fans at the beginning and started a set that lasted two and a half hours - literally song after song of live vocals backed by her amazingly brilliant band and dancers and outstanding stage effects. she showcased what a vocalist really is, something i think the kpop scene is so blessed and lucky to have. her vocals were so clear and beautiful, they pierce your ears in a way that’s gentle and not jarring at all.

what also became clear to me today was that after being a soloist for 10 years, taeyeon is a performer who is so confident with her vocal skills, values her craft, and knows how to work on herself to continue doing this for years. it’s a confidence that makes me so proud to be her fan. she was also so humble and seemed so touched at the fact that a sea of 40,000 fans were there to see HER. she didn’t have to say much, but i could just tell how much it meant to her.

i’m so thankful i can exist in a lifetime where kim taeyeon exists and witness her share what she is passionate about. i honestly don’t know when i’m going to see her next, but she will have my heart forever… i love you taeyeon 💜
