Institute for Stem Cell Science & Regenerative Medicine is an autonomous research body dedicated to collaborative research in stem cell & regenerative biology.
What does it take to prepare for the next era of human spaceflight? Alongside engineering, a strong understanding of biology is essential.
BRIC-inStem is proud to host a three-day foundational course in Space Biology for engineers from ISRO's Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC), which will contribute to the interdisciplinary knowledge needed for India's future human spaceflight programme.

#Skyroot Team leaders, Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, called on during their first visit to Delhi after the successful launch of orbital Satellite Vikram-1 in very first attempt on 18th July this year.
Congratulated them for becoming India’s first unicorn in Space sector, discussed their future plans and conveyed my best wishes for their next launch scheduled around November this year.

Mitochondria don't just generate energy—they physically adapt to it.
A new review highlights how the inner mitochondrial membrane changes its fluidity and organisation as cells switch metabolic states, potentially influencing respiration, ROS production, and even mitochondrial shape.
This emerging field combines chemistry, imaging and cell biology to reveal that membranes are active participants, not passive barriers.

Gravity has shaped life for billions of years. What happens when it's no longer there?
On Day 2 of the Foundational Course in Space Biology, engineers from @ISRO_HQ's Human Space Flight Centre explored how cells, tissues, plants, and the human body respond to the space environment.
By connecting engineering with life sciences, the programme continues to build the expertise needed for India's future space biology initiatives.

During the NITI Aayog's launch of roadmap on "Building India as a Leading Bioeconomy Powerhouse by 2035", proud to announce the introduction of India's first-ever "Engineering Biology" Graduation course, a significant step towards building an independent and sovereign biotechnology and biology engineering task force, as a part of a larger ecosystem capable of supporting the country's long-term healthcare and economic aspirations.
Just as the first of the 21st century was known as the IT (Information Technology) century, the second half of the 21st century will be known as the BT (Bio Technology) century. We have to have our own independent, sovereign ecosystem, and to that extent, the initiative would be the first of its kind in the country to prepare a new generation of professionals equipped to work at the intersection of engineering, biology, medicine and emerging technologies.
The future of biotechnology would increasingly be driven by synthetic biology, AI-enabled biological research and bio-manufacturing. Technologies capable of designing new proteins, developing living-cell-based medicines, clean fuels and sustainable food systems would fundamentally transform healthcare, agriculture and industry over the coming decades.

Medical and Biomedical, scholars and researchers from leading institutions across India, who have so far taken the benefit of the “Biomedical Research Career Programme”, jointly collaborated and funded by Department of Biotechnology, GoI and the London based Wellcome Trust UK, fondly narrated their experiences during the launch of Phase III of the programme.
#DBT
My Address at the launch of Phase-III of the "Biomedical Research Career Programme" (BRCP) with collaborative funding by Department of Biotechnology #DBT, GoI and the London based Wellcome Trust, UK.
Takeaways:
"With a total outlay of ₹1,500 crore, including ₹1,000 crore from the Department of Biotechnology and ₹500 crore from Wellcome Trust UK, BRCP Phase-III will ensure continued support for fellowships and research grants for nurturing a globally competitive biomedical research workforce. The decision was approved in the Cabinet meeting chaired by PM Sh @narendramodi.
The next industrial revolution will be driven by biotechnology, and India is prepared to lead it. India’s Bioeconomy is set to reach USD 300 Billion by 2030.
Biomedical Research Career Programme has evolved far beyond a fellowship initiative and has established itself as one of most respected career platforms.
The initiative has strengthened researchers not only through financial support but also by enhancing their credentials, international visibility and professional opportunities.
The partnership between the Government of India and Wellcome Trust UK is a model of sustained international scientific collaboration and philanthropy. Look forward to greater participation by philanthropic institutions and industry for translating research into technologies, diagnostics and affordable healthcare solutions".
