Hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa passed away Thursday (April 9) at the age of 67 after complications from cancer, TMZ reports.
The Bronx-bred rapper, DJ and producer was known for helping shape the genre’s early foundation and for songs like “Planet Rock” (1982). He became a polarizing figure in later years due to multiple sexual assault accusations against him.
