@Roselinath I have a sci-fi webcomic!
It's about an alien that accidentally crashlands on Earth and kickstarts the most important event in human history.

@popupipapo@GyoJvfr@ColLalegende This is still mocap tho. It's kinda like rotoscoping: you can do it by hand, or you can slap sobel filter on the image and clean up the excessive mess; the latter is just more efficient. I imagine even modern mocap systems still require clean-up.
@nic_carter Show me a single instance when the neural network displayed _initiative_ instead of only reacting to a user input?
If your 130 IQ friend was moving only when you're talking with them and otherwise remained perfectly motionless, don't say it won't raise some questions in you.
@AndrewsKeeva@MaDR86@kaimicahmills The method of the killing doesn't matter, I was just being expressive.
You are still growing a sentient creature with the intent to consume a part of it.
How is that better than growing only the part you want to eat without the rest of the creature? This way, nobody has to die.
@AndrewsKeeva@MaDR86@kaimicahmills Euthanizing a suffering animal is an entirely different thing, I thought that is obvious.
Or you're about the people who go "Spot just became 8 years old today, time to put them down"? Yeah, it is also cruel.
@fdondi1@kaimicahmills To grow in vitro on an industrial scale, you'd probably need to add a lot of those organs back for efficiency anyway (veins, at the very least).
Plus, isn't one of the criticisms of meat cultures is that you can only produce essentially grounded meat, since it's just cells?
@KevinButterhof@luz1fer30@kaimicahmills > Or bioengineering humans with no brains to test those drugs on?
We kind of already do that, with things like HeLa?
@AndrewsKeeva@MaDR86@kaimicahmills You raise and care for that animal, make it feel happy and safe - until the moment you slit its throat to butcher. Their comfy life is a lie.
IDK, it's better than factory farming obviously, but still worse than growing food that's just incapable of processing its existence.
