@JMill_er @CraigAnthonyRS@aidangcw I do think its important to bring up as it could be a misunderstanding that should be corrected. Pre-registering a ton of studies and only selectively reporting is not the spirit of it.
@JMill_er @aidangcw I do think if there was that level of intentionality....pre-registration of 20 studies that are nearly the same with the plan all along to publish just the one that works by chance....then this is obviously flagrant abuse of the system. But I could imagine more benign situations.
@BethAV @JMill_er @aidangcw Agree on both counts. There should be room for situations where something doesn't get published. But I also see Josh's point that it could be problematic...intentionally for certain, but also unintentionally.
@JMill_er @aidangcw That's an important part that I think doesn't get said alot. Partially as it would seem to be self evident. But it's also one of those parts that is very hard to oversee. Eg, should editors be tasked with searching for all pre-regs from the author? It's a big ask.
