Since 2012, Educare DC has provided high-quality & holistic early childhood education in order to close the opportunity gap for DC’s children living in poverty.
Great to see @ACF_Adams visiting our friends @DCEducare and getting to see firsthand the incredible work they're doing for families and young learners in their community.
We were pleased to welcome @ACF_Adams today to discuss our model and the strong outcomes we are achieving for children and families. #HeadStart is the foundation of this work: high-quality early learning, comprehensive services, and family partnerships. #HeadStartWorks
Our 10th Annual Learning Event was a reminder that behind every Educare DC student is a community of educators, families, and school leaders working together to build a strong foundation for lifelong success! Thanks to our attendees for your continued support of our mission!

Yesterday, we hosted our 10th Annual Learning Event. Thanks to @AspenInstitute’s Anne Mosle for speaking to the importance of our 2-generation approach and sustained investments in children, families, and the educators who support them every day to close the opportunity gap.
Our community is a constant presence at the @CouncilofDC to make sure they stand with children, families, and educators in the FY27 budget. Fully fund the #PayEquityFund and Child Care Subsidy program to protect DC’s ECE system!
.@ChmnMendelson raised an interesting point in a recent hearing: He says two newly renovated offices for the CFO, which cost the city $26m annually, are largely sitting empty.
The CFO only requires workers to be in person 2 days a month. Mendo doubts they're even managing that.
Our Parent and Teacher Ambassadors stormed the Wilson Building today to make sure their voices were heard. They shared their personal stories and made a unified ask: fully restore funding to the #PayEquityFund and increase investment in the Child Care Subsidy.
Behind every thriving classroom is an educator like Jakira, supporting, and uplifting young learners every day. But recent proposed cuts to ECE investments put these classrooms at risk.
Contact your councilmember today, and urge them to protect the Pay Equity Fund
If we truly value teachers, we have to invest in all of them. The @councilofdc must fully fund the #PayEquityFund in FY27 to ensure early childhood educators are paid what they deserve.
We're proud that Washington, DC is home to the best teachers in the world—and that we offer the highest starting teacher salaries in the nation.
Thank you, DC teachers, for going above and beyond every day for our city's young people.
Happy National Teachers' Day!
Teacher Appreciation Week is a time to celebrate DC’s early childhood teachers and to stand up for them. The #PayEquityFund is essential to keeping great teachers in classrooms. Let’s protect the investments that support them and our youngest learners.

Grateful to coalition partners like @DCEducare, who met with several @councilofdc offices yesterday to urge them to fully fund:
Child Care Subsidy: $177.1M to keep care affordable for families and prevent waitlists.
Pay Equity Fund: $94.2M to restore fair pay for early educators.
The Mayor proposed a cruel budget. Now it is on the Council to fix it.
DC led the nation on early childhood pay equity. Now @MayorBowser's FY27 budget threatens to reverse it with a $60M cut putting 4K+ educators at risk. The @councilofdc must fully fund the Pay Equity Fund & child care subsidies. A must read by @DCAEYC + @NAEYC: https://t.co/UdrXDJjmjJ
“I love my students, and I love teaching, but loving this work shouldn’t have to come with financial sacrifice year after year.”

“I was getting paid more to make sandwiches than to educate kids.”
D.C.’s investment in the Pay Equity Fund changed that for Educare DC Assistant Teacher Shremaine Stewart. Now, the future she’s building could be pulled out from under her.
