@BaltGF During the session we were reviewing and discussing the FDA’s guidance on gluten in medications. Please review, it’s actually very encouraging. https://t.co/hoitlOzVWg
@TastyMeditation@VanessaWeisbrod General Mills was not a sponsor of this event. Here is more information on gluten-free Cheerios https://t.co/zAEMo7Q4aH
Cheerios uses a mechanical sorting process for gluten-free oats. Rigorous testing is in place to prevent errors in three stages of production. - @VanessaWeisbrod at #dcgfexpo#glutenfree
@TastyMeditation@amymitchellart@VanessaWeisbrod I’m sorry you’ve had this experience. As we said, gluten is found in very few medications (though there are some that contain it). Please review the draft guidance from the FDA. It’s very encouraging. https://t.co/hoitlOzVWg
Myth: gluten is found in many medications. Truth: gluten is found is very few medications and the amount is miniscule. Exceptions can change so it’s important to double check. #dcgfexpo h/t @VanessaWeisbrod
Myth: Gluten-free oats aren’t really gluten free. Truth: certified gluten-free oats are safe... but it’s important to understand manufacturing processes. And, some patients with celiac may cross-react to the protein in oats #dcgfexpo
Myth: A strict #glutenfree diet means zero gluten. (The FDA defines gluten-free as less then 20 parts per million of gluten) #dcgfexpo cc: @VanessaWeisbrod
