#CelebratingPoliceStaff - Meet Sam Knight whose work contributes to solving crime and bringing offenders to justice.
Sam has worked as a Media Officer for Devon & Cornwall Police for seven years, communicating directly with the media to help protect the public and keep them safe.
Her list of responsibilities is vast but includes, responding to media enquiries from regional, national and international journalists, and writing news releases and appeals as an investigative tool for ongoing investigations and major police incidents. She also works closely with our officers to give professional advice on media issues and provide media training.
Sam also deals with public communications on major incidents across the force and monitors media coverage to ensure the public are accurately informed.
Working with the media in an open, honest and transparent way to communicate to the public is vital in keeping our communities safe, solving crime and bringing offenders to justice.
Sam said: “For me, the most rewarding part of the role has to be writing copy and producing media packages to publicise when justice has been done. I like to think that this helps to increase people’s confidence in coming forward and reporting crime.
“It is a role like no other and it is a privilege to serve the public in this way.”
Thank you for your ongoing hard work Sam!
All this week we are highlighting the amazing contribution our police staff make to keeping our communities safe as part of the national Police Staff Week of Celebration and Recognition. Look out for the posts we will be sharing every day!
If you have felt inspired by Sam, then why not apply today to become a part of our Force👇
