DC - Marvel - Wildstorm - Movie Fan. I did enjoy Snyder movies, but don't identify with the cult. I like Gunn stuff too, but I'm not in that cult either.
The bots coming to defend this scene and call it the "greatest clip in Superhero history" is pretty intense. I have questions over the whole thing tho. Hopefully #Supergirl and #ManofTomorrow answers them
"Hypno Glasses" is a comic thing. And plenty of Superman throughout comicbook history have sought knowledge. It's why he puts trophies in the FOS like Batman does in the Batcave. And not only is this knowledge, it's knowledge of his home world. So that doesn't play with me, especially being the last "known Kryptonian" until Supergirl.
I personally find it an odd choice to make Clark unable to understand or speak Kryptonian, despite having full access to the Fortress of Solitude, particularly in context with how Superman ‘25 portrays his relationship to his immigrant/alien status. But, hey that’s just me.
To know your familial language to operate a Kryptonian fortress doesn't seem too off to me. English would be an alien language to Kryptonian's. If there is translation there with the Super Robots it shouldnt be inherently strange to learn your birth language from essentially the place that was built by your technology and people. Its touched on alot through decades of lore and media
The characterization of Superman that Gunn uses has been used before in decades of lore. Gunn is the storyteller in this instance but it's not his character. He's admitted his approach is a deliberate synthesis and homage to decades of established Superman lore and interpretations rather than inventing a wholly new version from scratch.
@goldenagesuper@Rebel0fReality I actually have been pretty clear. You just either didn't read what I said or interpreted it wrong because you came in trying to attack rather than converse
@Thatsprettycray@SergeiKravin0ff I do, and it doesn't take away from what I said. Lol you just either didn't like it or think it's dumb. Which is okay too. Your opinion. But the fact still remains he has super intelligence due to the sun manipulation of his cells.
Is this an interpretation of Jerry Siegel's character? Absolutely. But it's not James Gunns character. He didn't make him good or "nuanced" in anyway. All these thoughts have been written with pen to paper or keyboard to text way before James Gunn wrote Superman 25. "Dumbass". His characterization of Superman has been seen for decades.
Lots of Plot Holes now. Kara has been with him (off and on) for how long by the end of Superman 25 and he hasn't asked her about his Kryptonian heritage or tried to learn the language? The FOS came with English speaking robots and technology? And they can translate "the message" but can't "teach him the language"?
So we are going to pretend the super robots knew English when the FOS formed? Kara who has been with him for at least a few months if not a year by the end of Superman 25 never saw him watch the clip of his parents nor tried to teach him his Kryptonian legacy? Which would include their language? And Superman just didn't care? Seems lazy to me
@Swingtathwip The "Pre Crisis" version of Kara knew she was coming to an Earth with a grown up Kal-El which I believe is what they may be going for here
