There is only one way to fix crime in DC. We must repeal the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act.

The suspect in this arrest ended up being wanted for a MURDER in Washington DC back in 2022 and had been out on pre-trail release 🚨
38 year-old Jose Ramos was charged with second-degree murder while armed in October of 2025 and was allowed to STAY ON RELEASE, according to the DC Witness.
The homicide defendant then went to a park in Mount Pleasant to drink alcohol and was re-arrested by federal agents. #DCCrime

Yes, @Janeese4DC, this is EXACTLY what law enforcement should look like:
Suspects wanted for murder get arrested (even when crazy people try to interfere).
In the world of DSA politics, criminals are always exalted to the highest level of society, while victims and innocent citizens are scolded and chastised for even reporting that a crime took place.
In 2021, the Council created an exception to the eviction moratorium to allow violent people to be evicted to protect a building’s tenants. Councilmember Lewis George was the one vote against the bill.
Absolutely brazen for you to be commenting on policing. The only reason there is so much federal law enforcement activity is because you have worked tirelessly with the DSA to defund our agency. What you’re seeing is a direct result of your leadership.
Does anyone think this is what the future of law enforcement in DC should look like? Public safety starts here in DC, with our police, our community, our neighbors. We need to strengthen the tools that can keep us safe. That’s why…
After a brief review of the First Amendment, the Mayor’s Office has retracted its request that SPOG remove our post.
They also said they “Look forward to working with the police union in the future.”

@MayorofSeattle
Janeese Lewis George wants to “leverage” money that's supposed to be off limits for risky investments, the Editorial Board writes. https://t.co/vxfhzV26Kc
New: @Janeese4DC just released an internal poll showing her up by 14 in the mayoral race: her lead stays at 12 even when they run a RCV simulation.
This is quite the change from the public poll of the race, but I will say I’ve heard rumors of private polls with similar results.
Today, we remember and honor those who gave their lives in defense of our freedom. We also want to thank our members who are on the streets today keeping the city safe. #MemorialDay
Thank you for pointing this out, Scott.
In other words, if @Janeese4DC was mayor we'd have no curfew. Chaos and conditions dangerous for teens, as well as everyone else, would reign supreme.
P.S. 72% of District residents support the curfew.
I was in the middle of taping on my iPhone for a social video from the White House North Lawn when we heard the shots. It sounded like dozens of gunshots. We were told to sprint to the press briefing room where we are holding now.
We just reinstated a limited juvenile curfew under a new emergency order in Washington, DC.
Here's how that impacts residents:
1. Effective tonight, 5/22, all youth under the age of 18 are subject to a 11PM citywide curfew.
2. Designated zones will be subject to an 8PM curfew as determined by the Chief of Police.
3. The curfew will extend through 6/6.
This order is an emergency tool that will address the next 15 days to preserve safety and protect peace in our community.
JLG's campaign spokesperson with a statement:
"After attending a candidate forum in Ward 8 that Kenyan McDuffie skipped, Janeese Lewis George stopped by a nearby park to meet voters and wish a happy birthday to her colleague on the council. She also voted for Mr. White's expulsion from the Council, and repeatedly condemned the deplorable comments he made about Jews. His opponent has taken thousands of dollars from Donald Trump's donors, including his top lawyer. Mr. McDuffie does not have time to attend Ward 8 forums, but he has no problem taking money from the people who worked to put Donald Trump in office.”
New: Lewis George and McDuffie both got their starts on the council as police reformers. So why has crime become a flashpoint in the mayoral race?
McDuffie says a key difference is he wants to hire new 1k cops over 4 years. It’s a proposal JLG and some experts find unrealistic.
