We started a boys U14 team last year. We had a steady first season finding our feet but quickly learned. This season we have today won our first cup beating Merseyside 2-0 at Shildon. We play them again away in a couple of weeks in another final. Well done boys- C’mon Durham.
Despite having so many players unavailable - including two playing for England - we set up against Merseyside in the U16 girls NC semi today. What a gutsy performance scoring after 20 seconds in a game that went to and fro but eventually we won 5-3. Brilliant girls - C’mon Durham
Not to be for our U14 girls who lost the NC league final 3-2 against Merseyside. Very close game with some tremendous goals. Great season for the team who got to 3 finals and won silverware. Very proud of you - C’mon Durham.
Huge congratulations to our U14 girls who tonight won the Northern Counties knockout cup beating Cleveland 3-0. They put behind them the disappointment of losing the National Cup last Sunday at Stoke. Next up is Merseyside in another NC final this weekend. C’mon Durham.
@burdon_nikola Sorry - not meant to be. Girls were great but think we looked nervous and didn’t play our normal game. Just an opinion but form is temporary - class is permanent. We will be back stronger and have every confidence in those girls to bring back the Northern Counties trophies.
Just returned after a long and disappointing day at Stoke. Maybe the occasion got to some of our players but unfortunately the real Durham failed to turn up today. Great achievement to get there and congrats to Herts & Devon. We will be back - that is what we do.C’mon Durham.
Congrats to our U18s who beat Lancs 5-0 today in the NC semi final. Big day tomorrow with both our girls teams in the National finals at Stoke City. Can we be the best in the Country? - why not. We will certainly give it our best shot. C’mon Durham.🤞🏆⚽️.
Not to be outdone by the girls- our U14 boys reached their second Northern Counties final defeating Northumberland 5-2 tonight. Great second half performance especially from Liam who scored 4 of the goals. Well done all and looking forward to both of the occasions. C’mon Durham.
We’ve done it again - our U14 girls have reached their 3rd final of this season from 3 comps. Even game today v Cheshire which could only be settled by pens. Great opponents & hospitality - the toughest team we have played this season. National final next Sunday. C’mon Durham.
Our U14 girls will play Cleveland in the Northern Counties knockout final after we beat Cheshire 2-0 last Sunday. Great performance to beat a strong Cheshire side in one semi final and we play them again this Sunday, away, in the other NC league semi final. C’mon Durham.
Well done to our U16 girls who despite going down against Cleveland last night - had already done enough to qualify as group winners in the Northern Counties competition. They will now play the runners-up in the West group at home in the semi final. C’mon Durham.
The winners of the Joicey Cup played this evening were St Josephs U13s who beat Shotton Hall 3-0. That’s the double for St J which has not been achieved a great deal over recent years. A short break over Easter now to charge our batteries and go again. C’mon Durham.
Mixed news this evening for our County sides. The U16 boys lost 3-4 to Cleveland which unfortunately means we don’t progress any further in the NC competition. The U14 girls meanwhile drew at Cleveland which was the point required to qualify for the semi finals. C’mon Durham.
Good win tonight for Durham Johnston in the Senior Knockout Cup v Emmanuel College. Hard luck for Emmanuel but they did win the League Cup last week. Next up is Joicey Cup final between St Josephs & Shotton Hall on Wednesday. County game tomorrow - it’s all go. C’mon Durham.
Emmanuel College Gateshead won the Senior League Cup tonight in a good final against Whitburn. This is the first time that they have won this cup. Game had to be stopped in the second half for a hailstone storm. Clocks go forward this weekend for the start of British Summer Time.
Other news from today - our U18 boys beat Northumberland to win the Derek Watson trophy. Great win guys well done. Peterlee St Bedes were the worthy winners of the Bert Hodgson trophy beating Whitburn 6-2. Busy times but lots of schools football going on which is the whole point.
We have done it - our U16 girls beat Cleveland to reach the national final and join the U14s on the journey to Stoke City where the finals are. First time ever we have had two teams in the national finals in the same season. Well done girls and managers. C’mon Durham.
