DC Fire & EMS is responding for a car fire on I-495/The Beltway in Washington DC. (YES, you read that right)
There is a 0.11-mile sliver of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge that still technically belongs to Washington DC— the DC, Maryland, and Virginia Southeastern Tripoint. (where all three intercept)
The car fire just so happens to be right within that sliver, so DC firefighters are responding…

🚨 HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN SOUTHEAST D.C. 🚨
MPD’s Homicide Branch has been requested after a man was found dead with an apparent gunshot wound in Southeast D.C.
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Seventh District officers responded to the 1400 block of Bruce Place SE for a medical emergency involving an unresponsive man inside a vehicle.
As officers began rendering aid, they discovered the man was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and, after finding no signs consistent with life, pronounced the victim deceased.
Investigators have since identified a crime scene in the rear of the 1400 block of Shippen Lane SE, where detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
