The catalytic converter’s main job isnt saving fuel .

It converts harmful exhaust gases into less harmful ones.

Many people think removing it is why their car suddenly starts burning more fuel
Most times, that’s not the real problem.

Higher fuel consumption is more commonly caused by:

-A faulty O₂ (oxygen) sensor(on top of the exhaust/catalyst and actually tells the car how to pump fuel and air)

-A dirty or failing MAF sensor or clogged air filter (tells the car how to filter air in)

- A weak fuel pump (measures fuel rate )

-weak spark plugs

-Leaking or stuck fuel injectors
These issues can increase fuel consumption far more than a missing catalytic converter.

If your car is drinking fuel, check the sensors and fuel system first.
