77 years ago my great uncle George landed on Sword beach as part of a specialist royal marine unit. He died just a few short days later at Rots and Le Hammel in hand to hand combat with an SS officer. He was just 21 years old and newly married.

My Dad, like many thousands of soldiers, was involved in the D-Day landings. When the 'World At War' tv series was on, whenever any D-Day footage was shown, he used to get close to the screen as if looking for himself, and say 'I was there somewhere'. #DDay#6thJune
77yrs ago today my Great Uncle Pte Arthur Henry Morley landed on Gold Beach with 2nd Bn The Essex Regt, he made it off the beach and moved on to Bayeaux, from there they then headed to Lingevres, where sadly he died during the Battle of Essex Wood #DDay#LestWeForget
