One year later, and Helene is on pace to become the least-funded Hurricane in American history. Out of the estimated $60 billion dollars in damages Helene caused in western North Carolina, only $1.61 billion in federal funding has been fully disbursed as of 10/27/25.
FEMA IA (Individual Assistance) has covered just $535 million of the estimated $12.7 billion in residential damages for the nearly 80,000 homes damaged in the state.
As of January 2025, 12,000 western North Carolinians remained displaced, and thousands remain living in trailers, tents and makeshift mobile housing.

Corporations hired private planes to drop dynamite and gas bombs on American citizens, and eventually the president sent in 2,500 armed soldiers along with planes carrying live artillery to stop the conflict.

In question, I personally shot all that footage including the drone footage. Also, a quarry is a type of mine, which requires a permit. This is a national news story at this point and multiple major outlets have confirmed that it Is indeed an Illegal mine. It doesn’t matter what the gravel they are mining Is used for, it is operating illegally and disrupting people’s lives. Are you ok?
This has been going on in Appalachia for over a hundred years. Politicians not only don’t care about it, they are in bed with the mining companies and have been forever. Doesn’t matter who’s in office, it keeps happening. We have to learn that it’s us vs them at some point or we’re doomed.
