@hayleyemxo Again, this was not meant as an attack in any way. But I disagree with your big picture analysis. I think we are actually playing a different role and that is okay. In fact, I think it is entirely necessary.
@hayleyemxo In the campus/community realm, stations have to rely on volunteers for the majority of their operations, engage student populations and student funding. As well, they need to consider the changing needs and values of their communities in a way that I think is unique
@hayleyemxo I also understand that you and other CJSW DJs have worn multiple hats between stations, which I personally have found challenging as a listener. I have been told by these DJs that their practice actually does differ between stations.
@hayleyemxo If you are looking for a fact check, here is a screenshot of the CRTC license for CKUA, they were allowed to retain non-profit/charitable status in their 'transition' to commercial radio (Interesting case study) but they are not a Community sector station

To honour our late friend Allen Baekeland, @CJSW is producing a special program in recognition of Allen's contribution to Calgary's music community.
Do you have a story about Allen you would like to share? Call (403) 220-3903 to leave a message with your memories of Allen.
Today is a sad one for @CJSW and the broader Calgary music community. This morning, we lost our friend, mentor, former Station Manager and programmer, Allen Baekeland, after a battle with cancer.
To Allen, thank you for everything. So long, friend…
