If you can ever find little additions and subtractions in life that require little input but yield large output, you have to take note...
And of course share the good news!
Most of these I have done for some time, but one of them is rather recent and has had a really big impac

Fitness isn't a competition to see who can get the most tired. The quality and value of your training shouldn't be measured by exhaustion. If there is an opportunity to move the needle and not be completely depleted of energy, it would be stupid to pass that up.
Even once herd immunity is reached, coaches must seize the opportunity that the COVID-19 pandemic has created, and together keep health at the forefront of attention. We are no closer to being immune to heart disease and obesity, a pandemic that isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
One area where CrossFit remains unmatched is in its ability to best prepare people for the unknowns of life. No one that is in a life or death situation thinks to themselves "Oh thank GOD I go to Orange Theory", but these very situations are abundant within the CrossFit community
Post injury, it's imperative that us coaches have the right conversations with athletes about pain management, mindset, and prioritizing strength. Load tolerance, robustness, stability, progressive overload—all of these are just fancy ways of saying "you NEED to get stronger".
Young Coaches,
Learn from the OG's. There is so much untapped wisdom bottled into a coach that has been on the floor with clients and athletes for decades. Before you go trying to create "original ideas", become obsessed with understanding the philosophies that already exist.
When returning to exercise after vacation, I routinely stress the importance of proper progressions. The rush back to gyms following the pandemic will be primarily made up of people that have sat for 8+ hours a day for the last year. It is CRUCIAL that coaches recognize this!
Vague goals are not the solution to decreasing your chances of failure. You can temporarily avoid the negative association of trying and failing, but the pain of failure will never compare to the pain of knowing you aren't really trying–that will haunt you forever.
Stop chasing absolutes.
Eating carbs won't kill you.
High intensity exercise isn't the only way to get in shape.
Back squats aren't the only way to get strong legs.
Success in health and fitness comes in many forms.
Be explorative, not close minded.
The biggest difference between the people I have been working with for years versus the people starting today, is time–It's not a trick equation. If you can get over the fact that great things take time, you've already won half the battle.
The people telling you to not lift weights for fear of injury have either done something stupid to hurt themselves, are jealous of your progress, or are basing their judgement off of anecdotal evidence. It's called strength for a reason– weakness is what we should worry about.
People depend on you to take care of yourself. but they won't pencil self care routines into your schedule, only you can do that.
This mindset shift has been a gamechanger for my clients!
Shoot me a DM if you are looking for a one on one coach to guide you through the process o
You would be hard pressed to find a single facet of fitness, nutrition, and mindset, where individual improvement in that area doesn't also benefit the group. Taking care of yourself is more times than not the most selfless thing you can do.
I know the thought of not caring about what others think of you sounds like a "too good to be true" utopia. I promise you, once your habits have reached the level of values, you become impervious to the outside chatter, because your decisions are already made.
