@teslaeurope@teslayoda We need an independent source; a source with a conflict of interest is not sufficient (this is the response we have received from the authorities).
@teslaeurope Response from the Norwegian authorities:
If Tesla had enough confidence in its systems, it has, since 2019, had the opportunity to apply for approval as an automated system by following a special intake process for automated and new technology published in the EU.
Since 2021, ..
@teslaeurope .. FSD (Full Self-Driving) is unfortunately nothing more than a new name for an upgraded version of Autopilot. FSD is still a driver assistance system that does not have sufficient built-in safety to meet the requirements for automated (“autonomous”) systems.
@teslaeurope .. it has been possible to approve automated systems (L3) for motorways.
Since 2022, it has been possible to approve automated systems (L4) for limited areas.
Tesla has not made use of any of these opportunities.
@KRoelandschap Also, we do know the name of the test driver approved for testing FSD in Norway. Won’t leak his name, but should we ask him for a drive along? @TeslaClubNorway
@KRoelandschap Something seems odd with this MY. It was manufactured in Berlin in 2025 and registered in Norway in 05/2025. However, it’s listed with a 533 km WLTP range, which doesn’t match the Juniper.
@KRoelandschap Also, the authorities in Norway says that they are following UN. reg. 171. A new version of the regulation will enter into force on September 25, which opens the possibility for FSD on highways, but not yet in urban areas.
@KRoelandschap Version information from the spotted Model X attached. The picture was sent from a Tesla employee to the Norwegian Public Road Adminstration.
Version information of Model X testing FSD in Norway. Official picture sent from Tesla employee to The Norwegian Public Road Administration. @SawyerMerritt@wholemars@niccruzpatane
Tesla granted exemption by Norwegian authorities to test FSD (Supervised) software for 2 years, despite violating UN Reg. 79. Only Tesla staff with safety training can activate it. Vehicle must be reverted post-test. Software 13.X, Model X 2023. @SawyerMerritt
@larsmoravy Fix phantom braking on autopilot. It’s horrible in Norway, check out road E6 between Moelv and Hamar. 5-10 hard phantom brakes in a few kilometers. Been like this for years..
