On 06 June 2026, the AJY team visited Naguli Jungle VSS under the Chhendipada-I Section of Chhendipada Range and interacted with VSS members to review the progress of sewing machine-based livelihood activities.
The meeting focused on understanding the income being generated by beneficiaries, discussing challenges and opportunities, and exploring ways to strengthen and expand sustainable livelihood initiatives. Emphasis was laid on enhancing income-generation potential, improving self-reliance, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the intervention.

World Environment Day 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm today at Sabhaghara, Angul, bringing together public representatives, government officials, forest personnel, students, volunteers, and nature lovers in a collective pledge to protect and preserve the environment.
The programme was graced by Sri Agasti Behera, Honβble MLA, Chhendipada; Smt. Babita Pradhan, Zilla Parishad Chairperson; Dr. Sanjaya Kumar Swain, RCCF, Angul Circle; Sri Abdaal M. Akhtar, Collector, Angul; Sri Nitish Kumar, DFO, Angul; Sri Samir Panda, Additional SP, Angul; and Sri Abhi Jain, IAS Probationer, along with other distinguished guests. The programme was also attended by VSS members, Sarpanches, Ward Members, school children, research scholars, NGO representatives, civil society members, Forest Field Staff and media personnel.
π Prakruti Bandhu and Prakruti Mitra Awards were conferred upon individuals and organizations, respectively, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
π A Wildlife Conservation Awareness Drama, performed by a talented artists' group under the direction of Dr. Harihar Mohapatra, a renowned Ollywood actor, effectively highlighted the importance of wildlife conservation. The performance also showcased various issues related to the human-elephant conflict and emphasized the complexity of the challenge. It concluded with a strong message encouraging the audience to play an active role in safeguarding nature and wildlife.

π¨ Illegal Timber Seized in Successful Jibedaya Operation at Tubey Village π³
Acting on reliable intelligence, a successful Jibedaya Operation was conducted on 2 June 2026 at Tubey Village under Hinsar Beat, Purunagarh Section, Angul Range. The operation was led by Shri Udhaba Behera, Range Officer, Angul, along with the dedicated staff of Angul Range.
π‘ During a house search, the team detected unauthorized possession of timber and seized 79 teak planks measuring 24.7388 cubic feet (0.70042 cubic metres). A forest case was immediately registered, and the seized timber was taken to the Purunagarh Section Office for further investigation and legal action.
π Kudos to our Green Warriors for their vigilance, dedication, and relentless efforts in protecting our forests and enforcing forest laws. Every such action strengthens our commitment to conserving nature and safeguarding our precious forest resources for future generations.

Mock Wildlife Rescue Drill Strengthens Emergency Preparedness in Angul Forest Division
To enhance preparedness and response capabilities during wildlife emergencies, the Rapid Response Team (RRT), in collaboration with the Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU), conducted mock wildlife rescue drills on 22nd April and 29th April 2026 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Kulasinga Mega Nursery and Guranga Dam.
The exercise demonstrated safe wildlife handling practices, including darting and tranquilization procedures, and provided practical training on the operation of the Airawat Rescue Vehicle. A thorough inspection of rescue equipment was also undertaken to ensure readiness for field emergencies.
The drill significantly improved team coordination, operational efficiency, and emergency response preparedness. The exercise was supervised by Sri P.K. Singh, VAS, along with personnel from the MVU and RRT. Field staff and members of the Elephant Squad actively participated, reinforcing the divisionβs commitment to effective wildlife rescue and conservation efforts.

Recently, the AJY team of the Angul Forest Division visited Pokatunga Village under the Karatpata Section of Angul Range on the final day of the Bamboo Craft Training Programme. The trainees showcased a variety of bamboo products, including pen stands, brush holders, wall hangers, bamboo trays, and other decorative items, demonstrating the skills and creativity they developed during the training.
