Thanks to everyone who has shown support to Mari! I'm posting today to ask for your help again as we face a significant challenge. Please read & share this thread!
A Harvard Law student, Sydney Nelson, wrote a good piece for Harvard's Access to Justice Lab on why court data should be set free. Court records are scattered across court websites, often riddled with errors, and cost money to get at. PACER overcharged people by more than $190 million over six years, and the Open Courts Act, which would have fixed a lot of this, never got a vote.

I'd add that some folks have been making a real dent. @mlissner and @freelawproject built CourtListener, a free archive of court opinions and filings, and RECAP, which makes PACER documents free once somebody has paid for them. They're at more than 250 million pages of court data.

It's good to see a law student taking this up. It would be even better to see Harvard's A2J folks and Free Law Project working the problem together. Open law, whether it's court records or the published works of legal professionals, is how people get to justice. Maybe they are and maybe they can use the secondary law from legal professions The Library at LexBlog has to breath life into primary law. I should be reaching out.

🎙️: https://t.co/3Ryc5thvTd
We talk w/ @adamfederman about new developments in the Prairieland case covered in his recent article in @theintercept
.
Check out some of the insights from Champagne Song, the Prairieland Defendant who received 100 years in federal prison for "being the embodyment of Antifa" (according to the judge).

Horrific. The media remains largely silent on the incarceration of the Prairieland protestors, whose "crime" was organizing a noise demo at an internment camp.
An excellent and moving new podcast episode on fighting state repression that everyone should listen to. It features a supporter of Prairieland defence effort, a defendant from the Minnesota 15 case and a speaker from our sister organisation @PartisanDefense.
The episode is from the DSA @cleanbreaknow caucus.

The people getting FBI visits were arrested in a kettle by New Jersey State Police, not feds, for being on a city street after a dispersal order given by NJSP, no fed charges.
Why is FBI door knocking over this? Why does the FBI have info on who NJSP detained?
