@CmChaotic I’m in Surrey BC and I’ve seen the rents go up a similar amount in a shorter period of time. Vacancy rates are a fraction of a percent and have been for a few years.

We bring in many fold the amount of people France does per capita. But we don’t build in advance.

What Quebec is trying to go in a different direction. And it would be fair, in contrast to the rest of the country.

I’ve had to wear a uniform. Religious symbols would have been unacceptable. (I’m sure exceptions would be be made if I were Muslim or Sikh.)

It would only offend me if the law didn’t apply to everyone. Or if we gave special treatment to one religion or group. (Unless we had a state religion.)

I would not want someone in a nun’s habit teaching at a tax payer funded school. In a saner world this would not be a controversial position.
