Would record-keeping help ethical businesses thrive more? Is this the right focus? How would this work in traditional cars? vWould designing these types of solution only open up to more suspicion?
Prototype 6: The blockchain mechanic
How can mechanics clear the slate of public distrust, and prove that work has been completed as promised?
Could record-keeping be explored to help this issue?
For the trustworthy car mechanics, re-building this trust was previously seen as a difficult task. But the ones who would implement this technological possibility, would maybe quickly be rewarded with new customers that wants a guarantee of work completed and money well spent.
One question then becomes, whether it is the product following the NFT, or the other way around. Would it be possible to sell one, and keep the other? Could this be a way to get more people to trust secondhand markets?
Alternately, these NFT’s can also be used as proof of authenticity and proof of being the original buyer. So when you choose to sell a product as secondhand in this future, people could see how many owners the product has had, in order to build trust in its origin.
These NFT’s can be displayed physically, by means such as Apple watches. These NFT’s can be connected to ones social media or secondary market accounts. They can also come with future deals or white lists.
Prototype5: Digital parallels
As ones digital reputation start to carry more weight than the physical, how do physical-based brands maintain their presence? What other purposes can these digital parallells carry? How could blockchain technology affect our shopping culture?
Now the old icons, like Gucci and Adidas, that have established status in “the real world” strive to find digital parallels that can carry the same power. Could some brands solve this by offering NFT’s along with purchases?
The reality is that humans grasp after social status and good reputation. Many of the most famous brands of today have built commercial empires off this truth.
Prototype3: Gift card for greener choices.
How can we incentivize environmentally friendly practices for both the consumer and businesses, whilst also familiarizing people with tokenization?
Could web3 and tokens contribute to better spending habits?
Could this be a way to make tokenization relatable and integrated IRL? How would people would experience the volatility of a gift card? Should this be a stable token? What are the ethical implications of a volatile token unevenly rewarding early users and businesses?
