After seeing the Pont d'Avignon, the Musée Lapidaire, and some other Avignon highlights, we're on our way home! Just boarded the plane and the flight is on time so far. ✈️

Final stop: Avignon, perhaps Europe's most important city in the 14th century. Its papal palace is the biggest Gothic building in the world and could fit four Gothic cathedrals inside!

The magnificent Pont du Gard - perhaps the best surviving example of an aqueduct bridge - built to provide water to Nîmes once its population was too big to be sustained by the Nemausus spring.

The site where Nîmes was originally founded, sacred to the Gallic god Nemausus who gave his name to the city. The sanctuary was later dedicated to Augustus as part of the imperial cult.
