@HomeAffairsSA This is bigger than us.
This is about:
Labour rights
Accountability
Fair treatment
We are not asking for favours.
We are asking for what the law already protects.
@HomeAffairsSA DHA says digitisation is the future…
But refuses to employ the people doing that work permanently?
👉 That’s a clear contradiction.
You can’t run a permanent national function using “temporary workers” for years and then walk away.
@HomeAffairsSA 👉 Our work is ongoing = misuse of contracts.
The department renewed our contracts multiple times.
Under Labour Relations Act Section 186(1)(b) this creates a:
👉 reasonable expectation of permanent employment
Now they deny it? That’s unfair labour practice.
@HomeAffairsSA Section 23 of the Constitution of SA guarantees:
👉 Fair labour practices
3+ years of insecure contracts, no benefits, pressure to sign NOT fair.
Ongoing issues with payslips, overtime, and transparency also raise concerns under the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
@HomeAffairsSA We were hired, trained, and managed within DHA systems.
We even performed official civic duties (2023–2024).
👉 But now suddenly we are “not their employees”?
Now we are being pushed to third parties (Phetogo/Faranani).
@eNCA@SABCNews
@HomeAffairsSA Here is the commitment the DHA what’s to continue, on a contract “outsourcing’’ project basis while providing unemployed with 4yrs experience in the job selling them to a private company
This one brings trauma to think this department used Youth to gain the state funds to their pockets 🤮 @MYANC and @Our_DA . Than you act like everything it’s normal after dumping those graduates to the private sector.
@HomeAffairsSA I left the Digitisation Project in May 2025—R5000 stipend, no benefits, no future. DHA wanted graduates but paid less, while Dept of Sport, Arts & Culture pays better with lower requirements (even ABET). Something is not right. This project raised serious concerns.
@MSphephilem@HomeAffairsSA Let’s not even go there, We practically helped open the Menlyn branch. When there were posts the manager said we can’t be shortlisted because our qualifications are in IT not Public Admin. 😅
@HomeAffairsSA “home of corruption”
@HomeAffairsSA According to official plans, a second cohort of trainees was scheduled to undergo training from 15 January to 19 April 2024. However, to date:
❌ No training was conducted
