Children's book author of award-winning STEM books about nature, including A SEED IS SLEEPY, A BUTTERFLY IS PATIENT, AN EGG IS QUIET, A ROCK IS LIVELY and more.
@ChelsiHenry@Boyer_Elem_PISD@PISD_Libraries And thank YOU and the PTO! Bringing in authors -- and others who will offer their knowledge of something else (like wildlife) -- is a worthy use of funds.
Souvenirs from presentations -- I love the bonuses of being a children's author! David even invited me to go with him and his family to the Dallas butterfly garden, if I would give him my cell # so his mom could text me
Talking with kids about books and nature is a fun and rewarding part of publishing. Hearing their comments and questions is the bonus. From a second grade boy yesterday following, "A beetle is tasty" (A BEETLE IS SHY, illustrated by Sylvia Long). "I'd eat a bug. And a spider."
@bookbarktx Hi, Melissa! I wonder about her last name. There are so few Huttses. It looks like y'all had a great night! My best to your wonderful family. See y'all soon, I hope!
Preview for MERMAIDS SONG TOTHE SEA '24:
In coral reefs, where sea friends play,
sit three mermaids on a rock in the bay...
who sing to the sea all night, all day.
“Bless clams in their beds
and lobsters in pods.
Bless sharks in their shivers,
and squids in their squads."
@DeniseLit4Kids Wonderful! And what a great atmosphere to work in. I write science/nature books for children. It would be a pleasure to zoom with little ones any time.🙂
@MrsW_4Bryant @DAnneMosby@PISDBryantElem I have so enjoyed visiting Prosper schools. Each librarian has been welcoming and had prepped the students. Thankful to be active IN schools again!
Our Light Farms kinder, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd graders loved their special time with author Dianna Hutts Aston yesterday. Wow! Spectacular nonfiction! Many budding authors were inspired. Thank you @DHAston!

Favorite comment from a kindergartener at a presentation:
"You must weally like in sex."
"Pardon me?"
"You must weally like in sex."
Look of utter confusion.
I said, "Pardon me" 3 times before his teacher laughingly translated. "Insects."
"Yes, I really like insects." #steam
