Teachers can also get off the tube and get on the move!! I chose mountain time instead of screen time this weekend! 🏂 What physical activity did you decide to do in this beautiful weather? Challenge accepted @DHScariolato! @APPLESchools
Smiles all around as these kiddos accomplished an impressive 2km run in our gym, that’s about 27 laps! Everyone’s a winner with these runners! Couldn’t be more proud! ♥️ 🏅 🏃♂️
Lovely turnout for our very own “indoor” cross country event here at @DHarkness_CBE. Way to go Division 2 - keep running! @DHSGarrah @DHSHainstock @TheMrSylvester#HarknessHasHeart

Students have been enjoying the freshly fallen snow and finding icy treasures created by nature! Take a look at this incredible ice print of a leaf! 🍂 ❄️ @DHSDhillon
We enjoyed a beautiful day at the Compost Facility and Landfill on Thursday for our first field trip of the year! We learned so much more about composting and our visit to the “Throw & Go” section at the landfill taught us how we can reduce waste in our world! ♻️ 🌎 @DHSDhillon
Setting SMART goals help us strive to reach our fullest potential! We believe anything is possible if we make a plan! After all “Without a plan, a goal is just a wish or dream!” 💫 We are learning about goal setting through our Classroom Champions program! 🏆 @DHSDhillon
In Social Studies, we use a compass rose to show directions on maps and to help us navigate our world. We will be focusing on the land, stories and history of the people here in Alberta! 🗺️ @DHSDhillon
Ask your child to describe the 6 R’s when describing how to reduce waste in our world. They have learned new vocabulary such as sustainability and biodegradability, as we learn what it means to be responsible recyclers in our community! ♻️🌎 @DHSDhillon
Our heart maps help us develop writing tasks that compliment our personal interests! We are writing paragraphs with topic sentences to get to know each other! ♥️ ✏️ @DHSDhillon
When learning about geometry we have conversations about this valuable skill in math! We see it in our everyday lives and it’s even used in important jobs by engineers, architects and artists! @DHSDhillon
In math we have been exploring the concept of place value with numbers into the millions! We describe the value of each digit when writing numbers in expanded form. @DHSDhillon
It’s been a wonderfully busy start to the year in Grade 4! We are so proud of all the growth our students have made over the past month! Our excitement and engaging times together have caused us to miss some very valuable tweeting! Let’s share some highlights! @DHSDhillon
We’ve been busy getting to know each other, our class, and greater community through exploratory play, art, wonder walks, and organizing our classroom books! We are so grateful to begin our learning journey together. 🫶🏽🤩 @DHSGarrah#Harknesshasheart#WeareCBE
Our read aloud ‘Wonder Walkers’ inspired our nature walk today. We were challenged to find beauty in nature! What did you notice? What did you find beautiful? What made you wonder as you walked? 🌱 @DHSDhillon
What a beautiful start to Grade 4! ⭐️ We were excited to meet some new friends and connect with old classmates during our first week together! We participated in a Lego and longest paper chain collaborative challenge to work on our social interactions with others! @DHSDhillon
As we begin to review parts of speech in literacy, students laughed with each other as they read aloud their hilarious Mad Libs! Ask your child about nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs to review this knowledge! @DHSDhillon
McDonald’s Math! We used a menu to calculate the price of food items for ourselves and a friend. We added decimals and even subtracted from our budget of $50.00, to see who could receive the least amount of change. We celebrated with a special treat for Fry-day! 🍟 @DHSDhillon
This week we connected our knowledge of fractions to decimals and recorded money amounts. We write a decimal number to show how many whole dollars and how many cents (a fraction of a dollar) we have! Skip counting and using play money helped us with our thinking. @DHSDhillon
