Larry Swindell of the Philadelphia Inquirer: "Catch-22 became the novel of the 60s. Now Heller has provided the novel of and for the 70s...50 years from now they'll be reading Something Happened and arguing it still."

@nowhesobs@CHRISF0GLE looking at them all in the book (i was just working off the kindle bc i thought i didnt have a physical copy around, then remembered i did because ofc one is always around lol) i think none of them are supposed to have the oxford comma and avril/narrator would def consider it sic
@nowhesobs@CHRISF0GLE yeah, thats a tough one. “mobiles” used to be slang for cellphones (though i think i only heard it in uk movies) and the one noun usage is in a gately section, and but also there are 3 refs to the Year of Yushityu and only 1 has an oxford commas (all sic’d tho…possible mistake?)

Don seems to have shared the beginnings of the great crypto novel--a fundamental aspect to much of 21st century America, and one greatly ignored by literary fiction. His voice here is so polished and well developed. Dare I say "Franzenian"?
@theoryjoe1 Thank you for the very kind words, Joe. I admit that I reached for Strong Motion and Freedom for inspiration while writing this, along with Heller’s Something Happened and Updike’s Rabbit is Rich. We’ll have to see what JF himself thinks of it when I send it to him 🙂
