Not surprising that women in #dh perform more affective work that promotes collaboration & communication.
Important question in the study:
"How might this open new perspectives on definitions of productivity that currently define this merely as number of publications output?"
Women in #digitalhumanities "appear to be the main forces driving the establishment and maintenance of DH scholarly connections; they also are the facilitators who bridge isolated groups" Many congrats to @Gaojin_ on her first publication, also #OpenAccess https://t.co/9u5zKsppOq
Happy #DayofDH2022, friends! In the before-times we tried to organize a group for women & gender minorities in DH. Let's try this again. Would you kindly fill out our check-in survey about what would be useful? 💖

By bringing domestic life and work into radical collision, #COVID2019 destroyed the façade of our work-life balance.

Hearing all these stats about female scholars' productivity falling through the floor has made me realise I need to be more selfish in ring fencing some work time. This working week I did 27 hours of video meetings. Just took an hour to tidy up some writing... and breathe...
Stepped away from kids and spouse for a bit to check back on what I missed this afternoon, read more #DayofDH twitter, see if I was on the right track with the thing I started this afternoon...
Giving myself permission to stop.
That's the end of my #DayofDH2020
Working from home means no transition time between work-mode and mom-mode. Kids (5yo, 3yo) home all the time requires flexibility.
Today, that meant stepping away from work unexpectedly early to give an exhausted spouse a chance to rest.

Fifteen minutes to check in with my boys before my next conference call - Phew. You will spot I'm not getting much actual data wrangling/analysis/writing done... its one of those days in the semester where you have back to back meetings instead! #dayofdh2020
First up for me for #dayofdh2020 was to get the kids out of the house with their dad for their daily exercise, so I could get 1/2 an hour of quiet to record an introductory lecture! On text and data mining, for an internal sandpit our research centre @EdCDCS is running next week
I would also add - the sudden pivot to digital shows up issues with lecture recording, remote working, childcare, and workload. Finding the time to write, record, upload and manage even one intro lecture, in amidst hours of video meets, and homeschooling...! #dayofdh2020
Email:more back & forth with a tour operator about #DH2020. I wish we were going to be welcoming you here to Ottawa in person, #dayofDH2020! @jenguiliano @Laura_Estill @sarahsimpkin @data_jada @electricarchaeo @theHyperlab @DianeJakacki & @ADHOrg were an all-hands-on-deck crew
And now, its my time to teach the kids! I'll be doing my daily maths lesson. I have 3 kids, aged 11, 9, and 9. They are coping well so far, with plenty to do, and I need to make time in my day to have proper, unstressed engagement with them around a school topic. #dayofdh2020
Maths done! had lunch. Put on a laundry (the aftermath of the boys' "walk" in the woods), played with the Kitten for 2 minutes. Now back to it. I'm behind on email as I'm in so many video meetings, and have little other time at my computer... Is this the new normal? #dayofdh2020
