🇩🇰 Danish PM Attacked in Copenhagen
• Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was attacked in a square in central Copenhagen; the attacker has been arrested.
• European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen condemned the attack as a “despicable act.”
• The incident occurred just days before the EU election, with Frederiksen’s Social Democrats leading in the polls despite recent declines in support.
❗️ Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was attacked in Copenhagen
The man approached Frederiksen and hit her when the head of government was at Kultorvet Square in the Danish capital's Old Town.
Police detained the attacker. The prime minister's office said Frederiksen was not seriously injured but was in shock.
The name of the attacker has not yet been released.
