Andrew Yang reveals he felt like a failure his entire 20s and didn't make it until he was 34
"I started a company that flopped, then another company didn't work out, I still owed six figures in law school loans, and my parents would literally lie about what I did professionally. I felt very insecure and like a failure for years. I didn't become a success until I was 34 and didn't really hit my stride until 30. If someone found me at 29 they'd be like I don't know where this is going. Then you find me at 34 and it's like oh, it's fine."
Charlie Munger:
“The secret to life is easy because it's so simple:
You don’t have a lot of envy or resentment. You don’t overspend your income. You stay cheerful in spite of your troubles. You deal with reliable people and you do what you’re supposed to do.”
Warren Buffett: "You don't want to buy things that are cheap. You want to buy things that are good. It's much better to buy something that's good at a fair price than something that is cheap at a bargain price."
Find joy in all parts of your world and you will transform it into paradise. This is of course a very unusual way of behaving but it fits the unusual goal of becoming your own genie and making all your wishes come true. Unusual goals require unusual methods.
The most successful people I know all have an almost irrational belief that everything will work out
And I just recently learned the word for it: Pronoia.
It means the opposite of paranoia. The belief that the world is secretly conspiring in your favor.
The funny thing about Pronoia is that it's self-fulfilling.
When you believe things will work out, you try harder. You persist longer, and you see opportunities where others see dead ends.
What's that quote again?
"Pessimists sound smart. Optimists make money." – Nat Friedman
We all need a little more pronoia in our lives.
Warren Buffett: "You don't want to buy things that are cheap. You want to buy things that are good. It's much better to buy something that's good at a fair price than something that is cheap at a bargain price."
“You don’t need 20 right decisions to get very rich. 4 or 5 will probably do it. It’s a terrible mistake to think you have to have an opinion on everything.”
~ Warren Buffett
