Its hitting 3 of the top value cards that makes people rightly think, "why should I pay this outrageous price for this if there is no value on the other side". This is going to push a lot of people to PROXIES! Maybe that is the point.

@mtgcommander I think the big reaction is, not from the specific bans themselves, but from axing 3 very high value cards that have been used to promote product being sold by WOTC over the last several months all at once. If WOTC hadn't just pushed J-lo and Crypt recently it'd be different.
