Why is the Lotus used as a symbol of Enlightenment?

- It grows IN THE MUD. Most seekers try to escape the chore of Earth. They want the light without the heaviness, so they retreat to caves or dissociate from 3D reality. The lotus tells us that the dark, rotting material of human experience and suffering is REQUIRED for Enlightenment.

- Despite that, it is UNTOUCHED by the Mud. Lotus leaves are hydrophobic - water and dirt literally roll off them. You are completely submerged in evil, darkness, cruelty and selfishness around you, but none of it sticks to your identity. Your inner consciousness remains entirely unstained. You are in the world, but not of it.

- The Lotus has to grow THROUGH the murky WATER. The water represents the emotional body, and the subconscious mind. To reach enlightenment, you cannot just jump from the base reality to the crown. You must do the HARD work of pushing your awareness through the murky waters of your own unresolved emotions, fears, and negative psychological conditioning without drowning in them.

- It blossoms ONLY in the Light. The flower remains closed while underwater. It only cracks open when it breaks the surface and is struck by the direct rays of the sun. This is the final realization after using the mud for fuel and the water for growth: that your TRUE NATURE is entirely made of light. You are a Son of God.

- BONUS: Unlike every other plant on earth, the Lotus produces its flower and its seed at the exact SAME time.

This is the biological proof that time is an illusion. Cause and effect are happening simultaneously. The beginning of your journey (the seed) and the ultimate destination of your enlightenment (the flower) are not separated by years of hustle. They exist in the exact same moment. YOU ARE ALREADY WHAT YOU ARE SEEKING
