Local Democracy Destruction: Government announces 14 county areas for abolition of District and County Councils, hours before Parliament closes for the six-week summer recess.
On this day in 2003, David Kelly, the man who tried to warn the world about the lies of the British government’s claims that Iraq possessed WMDs to justify the illegal invasion, was found dead.
He was one of Britain's most respected weapons experts and raised concerns that the government's case for war had been exaggerated.
The BBC reported that the infamous claim Iraq could deploy weapons of mass destruction within 45 minutes had been "sexed up" to strengthen the case for invasion. Dr. Kelly was identified as the source.
Just days later, on the 18th of July 2003, he was found dead near his home, the official story was that he had committed suicide. Many do not believe that narrative.
No stockpiles of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction were ever found. David Kelly was proven right, as Iraq was smouldering in ruin.
1 million people were killed as a result of George W. Bush’s and Tony Blair’s lies. The entire region was destabilised, and ISIS and Al Qaeda rose as a result.
Govt's Digital ID advisory group "will meet behind closed doors and minutes will not be published"
"MPs still have no answer on the group's budget or how its members were chosen"
#ScrapDigitalID - zero democratic mandate and it stinks @andyburnham
@ZackPolanski The Socialist war on Landlords had the opposite effect to actually helping tenants... Socialism never works... its a race to the bottom and crippling poverty
“That is exactly what this Bill will criminalise. Conversations.”
Previous governments tried to introduce a conversion therapy ban and failed.
This Bill is far more sinister. It will criminalise the well-intentioned and often difficult conversations that parents may have with their gender-confused children.
Previous versions of the legislation included specific carve-outs to ensure that parents would not be criminalised for such conversations. This Bill contains no such protections.
Parents could face up to five years behind bars for discouraging their children from embarking on irreversible, life-changing medical pathways.
This is a full-on assault on freedom of speech.

It’s odd isn’t it? I can’t find this as headline news anywhere? Almost as if they didn’t want you to know.
Starmer has indeed extended the UK National Insurance exemption for qualifying Indian workers posted here from 3 years to 5 years! … about 75,000 workers, eligible for free schooling for dependents and access to the NHS for £1035 a year.
British workers and employers pay UK National Insurance from day one.
Hmm two tier working isn’t a good look, almost as if companies are incentivised to hire foreign workers.

"It smacks to me of a cover-up."
Debi Evans, a close personal friend of Ann Widdecombe, calls into question the official narrative surrounding her murder.
"There's more holes in this story than a fishing net."
"They were putting out fake information, false information, misinformation, and then telling people not to speculate."
"Well, clearly people have been speculating, and people have been noticing that there's one hole after another, after another, after another."
Oh Bridget, do stop.
The official Key Stage 2 results do NOT show that reading, writing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, maths and science have “all improved”.
Reading - unchanged.
Science- unchanged
Maths- up 1% point
Writing -up 1% point
Grammar, punctuation and spelling - up 1% point
Only 63% of children met the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined, up from 62% but still below the 65% before the pandemic. And attainment in every subject except reading remains below pre Covid levels.
Also ... these are Year 6 children who started primary school in 2019. You arrived in July 2024, after most of their primary education had already taken place. so er...
claiming their results as a Labour achievement is false.
“everything is improving under Labour” is spin and not an honest account of the figures.
The state pension is not a benefit.
It is one side of a verbal contract stated thousands of times by successive governments that if you pay National Insurance over your working life you will receive a state pension when you retire.
"Lisa Nandy is clearly in a turf battle with Liz Kendall over which department is going to control media censorship."
Under DCMS's new green paper, Watch this Space, public service broadcasters such as the BBC would be given prominence across social media platforms, while platforms like YouTube could be required to boost these supposedly "trustworthy" news sources.
The Green Paper also suggests extending this preferential treatment to other "trusted" news publishers, including newspapers and magazines.
We are somehow expected to trust DCMS and Ofcom to decide which sources should be promoted and which should be suppressed, without allowing political considerations to influence those decisions.
It is both deeply sinister and fundamentally at odds with a free and open society.
