@forsportsonly True. The undertones existed long before this though. The PAC (and WSU) refused association with strong regional programs, opting instead for a protectionist stance that failed to bolster them relative to other conferences. I don’t believe in karma but, if I did, this is it.
@JMUGameday Combining the highest performing teams while cutting dead weight isn’t a lateral move. It’s synergy. It creates momentum. The former AAC is a great example of that. I suspect if JMU was on that list (which I would welcome) your tone about it would be very different.
@BoiseCalvin@futurecoug Is your assertion that conferences are no longer based on media footprint but on actual viewership? If it is, I disagree with you. If that was true, Boise would’ve been picked up by now.
@Rjc1810@Richard95855983@richsportsbiz@BattleCattleFan My guy. Go read everything I wrote lol. Didn’t say USF was going the PAC. Dork. I said I believe the future depleted ACC and PAC futures are intertwined. Stop being so triumphalist lol. A depleted PAC and ACC would be wise to merge remaining brands and make a run at P4 status.
@BHeg93@MrBeavv Too many antitrust exemptions. It’ll just get hung in litigation, cost tens of millions, and go nowhere. If things are objective and open enough to allow access, I’ll take that. The prosed scenario (unless they add more P4 AQs) will net the G6 2-3 playoff spots a year. Decent.
@JMUGameday Any scenario that puts the top of the PAC with the top of the AC, brings along Gonzaga and Wichita State, and cuts ALL dead weight from each conference is a winning deal.
There’s an easier way than stressing about this, There’s a scenario where they could up @BroncoSportsFB and take credit for their past and upcoming playoff appearances if that makes them feel better.
There’s a scenario where the Big 12 ends up with:
Baylor 11-1
BYU 11-1
Texas Tech 11-1
Utah 11-1
FOUR 11-1 teams where the B12 championship would be Baylor vs BYU. What would the playoff committee do?
@jkmeeks80@nick_e_willy We have equivalents to them (New Mexico, UNLV, AFA, Wyoming) right in our own back yard. The coat tail riding AC schools have a significantly inflated sense of institutional value.
@thatsecondguy87@ChantsVs Subsidize your costs?!?! There’s as many teams in the East as there are in West lol. Subsidize ours as a thank you lol.
But no, the PAC will be passing on this nonsense.
@rmeicsU Wait a dang minute. You want Tulsa in the Big 12 instead of Boise? Come on now. Swap the two. Bend the geography a bit. Do the right thing lol.
