With fans moving Mercedes Moné to a gatekeeper/good hand/wins and losses don't matter role I think you really have a lot more opportunities for her to take losses and put people over she's never wrestled before that would be interesting matchups in WWE as Sasha Banks then she does left in AEW. Not to say she couldn't have a nice run of both good match losses that so many of her loud fans are hoping to see on her way out the door.
AEW/RoH:
~Willow Nightingale (because for some fans you can't put Willow over enough)
~Megan Bayne
~Kris & Toni (She loves wrestling them both and might as well take a couple of more losses on the way out)
~Mina Shirakawa (she'd love to do the honors finally)
~Lena Kross (someone she wants to wrestle)
~Queen Aminata (we need a rematch once Mercedes adopts her new role as high priced good hand)
That being said there are a lot more first time ever matches Mercedes could have that would be more interesting in WWE right now than there are in AEW. So if we are closing the door on her being a world champion, Sasha Banks can return and start getting back down to the business of moral victories
Roxanne Perez
Rhea Ripley
Guilia
Lyra Valkyria
Kelani Jordan
Sol Ruca
Kendal Grey
Blake Monroe
Jacy Jayne
All could be very interesting matches with Sasha Banks putting them all over to help build a better tomorrow!
With the prevailing sentiment of fans particularly be louder Mercedes fans online that Maya World should win Forbidden Door and when the women's world title at Wembley, let's assume that happens and look at what the women's world title's upcoming lineage might look like (hypothetical next 10 champ)
1. Maya World (beats Thekla at All In)
2. Megan Bayne (after DD drop titles)
3. Willow Nightingale (return from injury)
4. Thekla (two-time champion)
5. Jamie Hayter (gets her revenge)
6. Athena (finally free from ROH)
7. Toni Storm (return to Glory)
8. Megan Bayne (avenges her loss)
9. Maya World (two-time champion)
10. Athena (teaches her pupil a lesson)
@dajosc11 After Maya beats them both they can have a good old mid card non-title feud with Mercedes putting over the Austrian In a really good match since that's what a lot of Mercedes fans are chomping at the bit for, some good old Sasha Banks "moral victories".
If Maya wins what's the right scenario for Mercedes to ever win the world title? Are we talking 2027, 2028, or is there never the time when she is the right person at the right time. Because the sentiment from a lot of the crew seems to be very WWE "wins and losses don't matter" Just have a great match and put somebody over.
On behalf of all men, I'd like to apologize to Milly Alcock for my gender being the absolute worst to her.
Sounds like you're super in this movie, girl. Can't wait.
@forestm555@bullyray5150 Also what 10 years ago defended people stalking Sasha Banks with their duffle bag of merchandise they wanted her to sign showing up at her hotel and at airport terminals, but she was the bad guy in Mark's mind.
I think people are assuming things into evidence that aren't necessarily true when it comes through a casino gauntlet match. You have to assume Divine Dominion is going to have a match at Wembley probably versus the Brawling Birds and obviously the women's world title match. The only reason we had a casino gauntlet match last year was really because Mercedes was not defending the TBS title because she was challenging for the women's world title and I can't see the TBS title not making the show so I don't see a casino gauntlet match being a fourth woman's match unless it's on zero hour.
That being said to me it would mean if she doesn't win the title at Wembley she's either not winning it until 2027 or later if at all. If all people want to see her do now is have good matches while putting people over I'm not sure that's any different than anything Sasha Banks would be doing in 2026 if She were in WWE and honestly there are a lot more interesting first time matches left in WWE than there are in current AEW. I like to see her have great matches and win things not one or the other.
@legitmcedes They apparently want to see her win the world title on a random Dynamite or some B level pay-per-view, if they care if she wins it at all.
@NBossTime@Pazzle20151 Well if she doesn't win the title after 3 years in the company then it's probably time to move on from AEW. If she's not going to be here come 2027 then by all means put on a banger and put over Maya, put over Athena, and say sayonara.
Well as big of a comic book fan as she is she's twice as big of a James Gunn hater.
So it's hard to take any opinion She has on any of his work seriously whether she liked it as she did Superman or whatever she's going to say about Supergirl It's always framed by her distorted opinion of him.
If Mercedes is never winning the world title she would happily put Maya over in a classic then she can move on with whatever is next for her and her career because that she doesn't win the world in 2026 then she should look for other opportunities once her contract is up.
As a fan I don't need her to be some Brian Danielson Martyr type in AEW, when you have the greatest women's wrestler in North American history in her prime in your company then she should have a good run with your company's top belt and if that doesn't happen after 3 years then what is Tony doing.
Doing a springboard crossbody that she's done dozens of times dating back to Level Up doesn't really qualify as "extras" to me. If anything this remains on Olivia Morgan and was either a timing or miscommunication error for her not being in the right spot to take the move.
Even if it was Liv 's fault That sort of thing happens all the time in wrestling in every company on every show so why people are making such a big deal out of it would be the more interesting question. The Ibou narrative that NXT talent doesn't get to wrestle a lot of matches is pretty easy to debunk from both cage match as well as the wrestler themselves talking about the in-house matches that they have better only seen by the other wrestlers, something that NXT is done for years.
