Akriti Sutar from Delhi died after falling, either thrown as her parents allege or jumping as police claim, from her in-laws' house due to dowry harassment.

If the allegations are true, may her in-laws rot in jail for life. But I'm writing this post to highlight the recurring apathy of girls' parents towards the plight of their own daughters in such cases.

According to Akriti's mother, her daughter had repeatedly complained of physical abuse after her marriage. She alleged that on June 17, nearly three weeks before her death, Akriti was beaten by her husband with a belt. On June 29, a week before her death, Akriti called her mother in fear and said she believed her husband might kill her.

Even Akriti's brother also said she had become unusually quiet after marriage. He recalled that after one incident in which her husband slapped her, both families intervened to settle the matter.

Why do parents, even today, fail to take their daughters' pleas seriously and intervene while there is still time? Why does it take a daughter's death before they raise their voices? It is a grave moral failure. They cannot wash their hands of responsibility. When parents knowingly ignore clear evidence of an imminent threat to life, the law should hold their inaction accountable in one way or another.

Only someone with a deeply disturbed mindset and a r@pist mentality would invent imaginary scenarios to dismiss r@pe allegations under POSCO.
They create fictional narratives in their heads just to defend the accused and discredit the victim.
These fukcers are so determined to defend men that they end up calling almost every r@pe case "fake," even before an investigation is complete. In cases involving children under POCSO, the police cannot publicly disclose every detail because the law protects the victim's identity and the integrity of the investigation. That doesn't mean there is no evidence.

Dismissing every survivor and every case just to protect men isn't skepticism—it's bias. It discourages victims from coming forward and creates an environment where abuse is trivialized.

Looks like the story of my own marriage.

It was an arranged marriage and we were both working in the same position, so I didn't let my parents give any dowry. He was fine with it at first. Then the comparisons started.

"His wife brought this." "She got that." "They received so much."

They make you feel inferior for not bringing dowry.

To compensate, I started giving him half of my salary for daily expenses. I stopped spending on myself, invested in mutual funds in his name, bought a car on loan, and even gifted him a sports bike. I kept trying to make up for the dowry I never brought.

Nothing changed. The toxicity only got worse.

When I finally left, I walked away with almost nothing in my bank account.

But at least I walked away alive.

This woman wasn't as fortunate. She lost her life to dowry beggars.
