I've read enough manuscripts to know — the middle is where most stories quietly fall apart. Not dramatically. Just slowly. Scenes start existing instead of mattering. Writers, your middle needs a clock. Something ticking. #AmWriting#WritingCommunity"
@BetaCynthia7723 Ooffff it’s like you read my manuscript 2 weeks ago. I realized it was very much this.
Location, something happens, how character feels…
New location.
Dynamite insight more people need to hear!
@SoulEngine78 Love that. I find myself liking the worlds that are built more than the characters most the time. When the book (s) are over being sad I cannot explore the world more.
What's the first book that made you love fantasy? Mine was the Harry Potter series. Looking for recommendations for what to read while I wait for beta reader feedback. #BookTwt
@Zoejwalker 100% dying in the first week. I have a very “process improvement” and displeasure for inefficiency so with present day knowledge of how things work I know my annoyance would show up on my face and actions and get me in a lot of problems 😅
@realevelyncross Because they get so mad. Picture it: piles of gold everywhere, and eventually they step barefoot on a chalice. It’s the same fire a parent breathes after stepping on a Lego.
@Lynnette_Novak I can share two things I have struggled with but have taken time to improve but unsure about everyone else.
1. Over explaining to a reader the situation or emotion and not letting them get to it themselves or their own take on it.
2. Expanding initially on a solid outline.
