Elliotte Friedman: One rumour making the rounds Tuesday night is that Zach Werenski’s camp is so upset at recent developments that all trade possibilities will be rejected - Sportsnet (7/1)
I believe Dallas was team that stepped up and presented a trade option CBJ was willing to work with. Sounds like Werenski’s preference is to stay east.
"In the four years since that extension kicked in, the Blue Jackets have climbed from 31st to 29th to 20th to 18th in the NHL’s overall standings. They’ve risen from 59 to 66 to 89 to 92 points in that span.
After putting up with the muck these last four seasons, now is when Werenski decides to hatch an escape plan? Now?"
Personal opinion: if I’m Don Waddell, I’m moving 8 and 86 as soon as possible if the return for each is reasonable and fair.
The locker room and the franchise as a whole simply can’t afford that kind of drama to linger for the next 1-2 seasons. #CBJ
After further thought, could be a good thing. Werenski and Marchenko were no shows towards the end of last season and Werenski hasn’t done anything great in the playoffs except take a puck in the face. Fuck em and hopefully can get NHL players in return. #cbj
@CeeBeeJeebies@DWynkoop So you’re saying if it needed to be done, it couldn’t get done? It hasn’t really been a need but a desire. We’re not getting Robertson anyways but the cap wouldn’t make it impossible
All this Werenski noise is very dumb to me. It’s the same thing he has been saying, he wants to win. Signing big players won’t make him say he’ll stay long term. It will be about the results this upcoming season #cbj
