@nimtimtim @ArchitectsJrnal Great article. PT3 is inappropriate for anyone under 30. Graduates would do better financially with a masters in BIM, visualisation, BREEAM/LEED, or any focused high value activity within AEC industry.

Then do PT3 in 30's when you have experience to actually do the job well.

@nimtimtim @ArchitectsJrnal The best piece of business advice I ever received: any stable business needs a 66% gross profit margin. Cost of goods must be 1/3 of turnover. In professional services, CoG are WAGES.

That means all arch fees MUST be 3x wages to do the job.

@frankmcdonald60 I don't think there was any evidence that he benefited from not disclosing his links to projects under his authority. Jail time would have been disproportionate IMO.

He just seems to have haplessly ignored rules which exist to prevent MASSIVE social harm.

But it really should be. Would make the risk a lot more manageable for smaller developers.

@moseskagan There is no one more difficult or unpleasant to work for than a developer who has "GONE ALL IN".

They tend to be inexperienced, relatively unskilled and motivated to take dumb risks by personal issues.

They routinely inject that toxic stress to consultants' work life.

@moseskagan Honestly, I think personal guarantees are almost totally inappropriate in a professional context.

They're a sign of desperation and overreach for the borrower, and a clear indicator of the lender wanting brute coercive power way beyond what's normal in a business relationship.
