"For historians such as ourselves working on twentieth century Latin America, questions of democracy and democratic expression are seldom far away."
Oliver Fletcher, Emilie Curryova, @_Nicolas_Prados, and @AndresMGuiot recap the @DLAPP2021 conference: https://t.co/Z6IYmCvvuJ
Can you imagine the left in Portugal holding a protest with a Salazar flag? or the left in Spain with a Franco flag? Well, in Brazil there is such a big mess that in the protests against Bolsonaro a Getulio Vargas flag was seen. Vargas was a dictator between 1937-1945.
We will be compiling a dossier of a selection of the papers presented at the conference, with further details to be announced in the near future.
In the meantime, have a great weekend, and many thanks once again!
Oliver, Emilie, Andrés, and Nicolás
