Get it in the post! A proper contractual number of SPA, shorter PA length (3.5 hours), better recognition of OOH & overnight interruptions, MYPD, Welsh top pay point as a down payment, access to pension you’ve paid for without employer ‘permission’ and more, #DemandBetterVoteYes
If insanity is repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting different results … Overcrowding in EDs kills patients and harms staff. The core problem is the “back door” of our departments. Continued focus on the “front door” through redirection strategies won’t work. @RCollEM
We've written to NHS England with concerns about inadequate planning ahead of possible strike action later this week.
Attempts to run non-urgent services with fewer doctors risk patient safety. It's imperative that Trusts postpone work to protect urgent and emergency care.
At today's RDC meeting, we’ve voted to go ahead with strike action.
Last week when we met @wesstreeting we were open to finding solutions to restore pay and improve working conditions.
Today, we still do not have a credible offer on the table @Melissa_S_Ryan@RossNieuwoudt
Following the announcement of the @BMA_Consultants indicative ballot yesterday I talked to @trentconsultant about the background to the indicative ballot, next steps, why it matters to consultants and how you can get involved 🗣️

As soon as the pay award was announced we wrote to the Secretary of State demanding negotiations; the DDRB changes have been ignored and the journey to pay restoration well and truly stalled. We've heard nothing. We want to talk but continued silence should inform your vote.
Resident doctors vote YES to strike action to let the government know you are not willing to settle for a derisory pay offer on the back of significant pay erosion. Wes streeting said pay restoration is a journey - time to take the next step.
"The stronger the turnout, the stronger our mandate. A majority must vote YES for us to take strike action... and you absolutely should vote YES"
The ballot for industrial action for resident doctors in England is OPEN!

4% increase on the day of 4.5% inflation is the train in reverse. Think again. Our pay still needs 29% uplift to get it back to 2008 levels. People are retiring now & taking these losses for the whole of their retirement. Pressure is needed & you need to be part of it.
A meagre 4% pay uplift means most consultants in England will not have #PayRestoration during their working lives. Both the DDRB and the Government have failed us.
We cannot let last year’s commitment slide so are immediately entering dispute with the Government.
A 4% pay uplift, less than current inflation, is an insult to doctors in England. This Government has shown it simply doesn’t value doctors.
“The DDRB has failed doctors. If this is the best they can do, government needs to think again.” says @DrPhilBanfield
This ‘award’ pushes #PayRestoration even further out of reach, and doctors even further from the NHS. No one wants a return to scenes of doctors on picket lines but today’s actions have sadly made this look far more likely.

🚨 BREAKING: Resident doctors in England have re-entered a pay dispute with the Government.
Why? Because progress is being stonewalled by the continued delay in the publication of the DDRB's pay recommendations.
Trust must be rebuilt. Publish the DDRB now

A huge massive thank you to the wonderful team @rspcawirral who kindly loaned us a trap to help us retrieve our house cat who went walkabout for 8 days. We have him back, the trap worked after a neighbour spotted him and we were able to lure him in. Thank you so much!!!!

Dear @wesstreeting
When one headteacher tragically killed herself due to Ofsted inspection there was national outrage and an overhaul
Countless doctors kill themselves whilst awaiting @gmcuk cases (that take years)
What’s the plan? This is just one of many
"My colleagues are running on hard work and goodwill, and our patients are receiving unacceptable, undignified and unsafe care in corridors and in the back of ambulances."
RCEM's Vice Chair for Scotland Dr Fiona Hunter responds to the latest A&E performance data from Public Health Scotland 👇

Called out NHSE’s narrative that it’s possible to provide safe care in corridors. Used strong language putting our statement together, reflecting @RCollEM members’ and colleagues’ strength of feeling on this matter. Degree to which corridor care is normalised is dumbfounding
