Carolina can't stop 11 personnel. 👀
7.0 YPC allowed and 5 rushing TDs given up from that look. Detroit is averaging 5.3 YPC running out of it.
The Panthers also lead the NFL in yards after contact allowed (3.8 per carry), and they're giving up 7.6 YPC when they sit in dime on called runs.

Lions announce roster moves:
Placed S Thomas Harper on Reserve/Injured.
Elevated DB Jalen Mills and LB Amen Ogbongbemiga from the Practice Squad to the Active/Inactive list.
I get it. The Lions defense looks bad. But I'm not ready to call it one of the worst in the league, because the numbers say as much about who Detroit has played as how it's played. Buffalo leads the NFL at 7.1 yards per play, and I think New Orleans finishes as a top-10 offense. Look at Houston, a defense everybody agrees is good. The Texans are seventh in passing yards allowed after their own game against the Bills. The Colts traded for Sauce Gardner, and they're giving up the most passing yards in the league at 337.5 per game. If the Lions are that bad, then a lot of defenses you respect are bad too.
Then there's the workload. Detroit's defense has been on the field for 155 plays, the most in the NFL by a mile. The Colts are second at 142. Amon-Ra St. Brown said it on his podcast: the offense has to do its job, because the defense is out there way too much. That's why I think the mini-bye after the Thursday game could help this group recharge.
The pressure numbers aren't the problem either. Detroit is second in pressures and second in sacks, and the pressure holds up even when it doesn't blitz, with 20 pressures and three sacks. What changes is the touchdowns. When the Lions don't blitz, they're tied for seventh-fewest touchdowns allowed.
That doesn't let anybody off the hook. Kelvin Sheppard is playing too much zone for personnel built for man. The coaching has to be better, and Jack Campbell has to be better. But I'm judging this defense at the quarter mark, after the Jets, Panthers, and Cardinals, heading into the Week 6 bye. Not after two games against elite offenses.
Detroit should have the advantage when running directly at Bailey. The concern comes on obvious passing downs, where Bailey’s speed and inside counter could test Miller’s recovering knee.
Miller doesn’t have to completely shut Bailey out. He must prevent the one or two game-changing losses that could produce a sack, turnover or stalled drive.
#OnePride
Kelvin Sheppard's defense is allowing 35.5 points per game. The Jets rank 20th in scoring.
If Detroit can't stop this offense, the conversation changes.

When you look at these numbers they appear to be bad, but let’s go in-depth
In back to back weeks Tyler Shough and Josh Allen 68% (Highest among teams who are in top five blitzing)
5 Touchdowns when blitzing, to one touchdown when not blitzing.
Here’s the part that is jarring, pair the stats with the tape, The Lions blitzes appear to be easily diagnosed by Quarterbacks. To a point where, Shough in first half was 1/5 against blitz after the second half, Completed every pass against the blitz, throwing where the blitz was coming from.
This isn’t a talent issue. Right here, pair this with Lions playing zone a majority of the time and one high safety it seems a recipe for disaster.
Hope it’s fixed, Geno Smith isn’t the QB to do this too…
