A proud moment for Dún Laoghaire! 💜

Last night in Cork, Dún Laoghaire was officially presented with its first-ever Purple Flag at the Purple Flag Awards Ceremony at The Metropole Hotel.

Our Purple Flag Coordinator, Gisèle Scanlon, accepted the flag on behalf of the town.

This achievement is the result of more than a year of collaboration across our community. A huge thank you to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, An Garda Síochána, DLBA, Dún Laoghaire Tidy Towns, the PPN, local businesses, residents, volunteers and everyone who supported the journey.

We look forward to developing our Evening and Night-Time Economy alongside these worthy recipients and the more than 90 Purple Flag destinations across the globe, from the UK and Ireland to Sweden, Malta, New Zealand and Australia. This coming year is going to be an exciting one for DLR Chamber as we continue to develop the evening and night time economy across Dún Laoghaire- Rathdown.

DLR Chamber has published its Pre-Budget Submission 2027 – A Strategic Partnership Proposal to Government, setting out ten evidence-based actions to unlock the county’s full economic potential and support Ireland’s wider national competitiveness.

The ten-point plan calls for coordinated investment in housing, enterprise, the Blue Economy and cross-border collaboration.

The submission also carries a direct message to Government on behalf of the county’s hospitality and retail businesses: these sectors cannot sustain further increases in the cost of employment in Budget 2027.

**Message from our DLR Chamber President Colin Brown**

I am delighted to congratulate Viv Gaine from Frascati Centre on becoming Vice President of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Chamber of Commerce. Having worked alongside Viv on the Board, I know first-hand the energy, commitment and enthusiasm she brings to the Chamber. She cares deeply about our business community and is always willing to contribute, support others and get behind the work we are doing.

As President, I am particularly delighted to have Viv alongside me as Vice President. We will be working very closely together, and I know her experience, ideas and positive approach will be a tremendous asset as we continue to grow the Chamber and build on the momentum of recent years.

There is a great deal we want to achieve, and I’m very much looking forward to working together with Viv, our Board, our CEO Colette O'Sullivan and the Chamber team as we take the next steps forward.

Congratulations, Viv - thoroughly deserved, and I’m delighted to have you by my side for the journey ahead.
