'Labour announced not one but three new immigration routes to enable more people like this to come here. They’re doing it to fiddle the figures, and hide the scale of illegal immigration.
First, the Home Office says: “a new community sponsorship scheme will allow communities to sponsor refugees to resettle in their area.” A small scheme like this already exists, but sponsors must show they have the funds to look after people. That’s clearly not enough for Labour, which is creating a whole new scheme they say will “operate at a much higher capacity”.
Second, universities will be able to bring in more migrants. The Home Office says: “trusted universities will be able to directly sponsor refugees through a study route. Applications will open this autumn for organisations to sponsor refugees, with the first arrivals in autumn 2027.”
Third, employers will be able to sponsor migrants outside the “skilled worker” route: “A refugee work route is expected to open next year, allowing employers to sponsor refugees.”
Again, we’ve seen endless stories about kebab shops and pizza places exploiting so-called “skilled worker” visas to provide skivvy labour. Instead of fixing this, Labour is going to turbocharge it, creating a new sponsorship route without even the limited constraints in the current rules.'

Right now our public health care system is operating as if it was in the depths of a flu ravaged winter. This has been the case all year.
