1/2 Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day, aligned with the summer solstice. For generations, First Nations, Inuit and Métis have continued to recognize this sacred time of renewal and connection, while celebrating the deep bond between people, culture and the land.
The CCGS Naalak Nappaaluk, a @CoastGuardCAN’s vessel, is a powerful symbol of reconciliation as it was named in honour of Inuk Elder Naalak Nappaaluk, from Kangiqsujuaq, Nunavik, who was committed to protecting and promoting Inuit language and culture.

The Summer Solstice, which takes place on June 21, holds a profound spiritual significance for us, First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples. It marks a time of renewal, connection, and celebration. This is why we celebrate the National Indigenous History Month in June.
2/2 Local First Nations suppliers will work on this important project, using their expertise to preserve the Alaska Highway, an asset that is a lifeline for their communities. I am so proud that at @PSPC_SPAC, reconciliation is more than a word—it’s action.
