@Shepperd156@magameg31@JustJenRX@McJuggerNuggets This is a myth. They are just as capable of a full range of emotions as anyone else. They do tend to report a higher level of overall happiness, but its far from comprehensive and usually more complex than this media-influenced misinformation.
@A_wild_torterra@towerdragon@leeeeee_1985 If that were the case I would not be ok if that were the reason, just as I would not be ok for a gender selective abortion. but these are not equivalent. Trisomy 21 is a well established genetic defect.
@leeeeee_1985 False positives are incredibly rare, so it is possible that you are under a misapprehension on the nature of that case. Regardless, and I would never wish impose such long odds on anyone.
@Outspoken_Sam First, it wasn't ending a life. Second, they were given a roadmap showing a high likelihood that the eventual child will have severely limited outcomes both mentally and physically. I don't disagree with their decision.
@EMac847@k1rallik Autism is generally not the result of an easily identifiable genetic defect (though it can be), nor does it result in substantial physical impairments or poor health outcomes.
@NordicMasc@Dark_Enigma03@JukinJivinJohn@k1rallik It's not reasonable to expect that the prevailing sentiment will label simple physical characteristic as a defect. Trisomy 21 is a well established genetic defect.
@JukinJivinJohn@k1rallik This isn’t the same as eugenics in the sense of selecting for eye color, hair color, height, obesity, gender, or even intelligence. Trisomy 21 is a well established genetic defect that effects all aspects of a person’s life and also the life of everyone around them.
@RealBrittHughes Spoken as someone who has never had to care for a Down's child with severe impairments. They are very common and something I wouldn't wish on anyone else. If you wish to care for one.. great. Don't force others into it.
@jagrmeister You, and she, were extremely fortunate as Edward's Syndrome outcomes are generally far worse than Down's outcomes. But you have to admit 80/20 odds are terrible. Should we force those long odds on everyone?
@Icekiller369@xChRl5_100@k1rallik Many are, but those suffering from Down's can experience vastly different outcomes with some needing near round-the-clock care for their entire life. Its not all rainbows and sunshine for them
@JessicaArt74033 Population disparity along with an entirely different primary processes. On a slightly related note, if you guys want paper ballots and same day voting? This is what its going to look like.
@ginamilan_ Trump KNOWs nothing (as usual). He is just trying to drum up unwarranted anti-election sentiment in advance of the midterms. Its so transparent its a wonder you MAGAnaught fools keep falling for it.
@QuantumGuard17 There are already capital gains exemptions in place on home sales up to a gain of $500k. Thats not the entire home's value but the appreciation. Therefore, completely elminiating captial gains would only benefit the wealthiest Americans.
@HazelLiaqa4848 I wont argue. He is worthy of that disrespecet. Lies all the time. Cheated on every wife he has every had, found liable for fraud 7 times. Guilty of 34 felonies and found liable for sexual assault. I didn't even have to mention that he is protecting pedophiles.
