Just got off the phone with Jake Cook, Jays 3rd round pick last year. We talked about the adjustments he’s made, learning to use his speed on the basepaths (the org has given him the green light), and his time at a running lab. A bright kid, he first considered med school.
The Jays have had success with several HS pitchers they convinced to forego college committments like Johnny King, Gage Stanifer, and Nolan Perry. Carson Messina, a 12th round pick in 2024 who has had injury issues to start his career, seems to be getting on track in the FCL.
