Stop telling me you found the "next Popcat" - when you could just get the actual $popcat and pump that for literal pennies right now. Given its ATH is like 33x away. This isn't as complicated as some people make it out to be.

@AMLTDTTM@Mets2026 I would take an equivalent hitting prospect over an equivalent pitching prospect. Why should they take a lesser hitting prospect? And how can you equally evaluate pitchers vs hitters, who bring completely different skillsets anyways?
@AMLTDTTM@Mets2026 I just don't agree with that.
And relying on a guy in A+ to be that next guy doesn't give me hope. Anyways. Again. It is a heavy FA class for pitchers this upcoming offseason, if they want to add more pitching. It's probably the worst FA class in a decade for hitters.
@AMLTDTTM@Mets2026 No one the mets got for Scherzer or Verlander was a top 10 MLB prospect. They were on their respective teams, but that's about it. Peralta is a better pitcher than those guys were at the time and is making a fraction of what they were.
@AMLTDTTM@Mets2026 Mets have had a ton of pitching through their whole existence. How far has that gotten them? How is it helping them this year? They just lose low scoring games all the time cause they can't score.
@AMLTDTTM@Mets2026 You'd get a top 100 prospect. That's not a heavy return. But it's still a solid return. They're not getting a top 10 MLB prospect for Peralta.
@Mets2026@AMLTDTTM He's a hitter that is the 18th ranked prospect in their system for a reason. He'd basically be a throw in. You want the headline prospect of the trade to be someone of note on the hitting side.
@AMLTDTTM@Mets2026 Mets are solid on the pitching side in their system, and in the bigs. They are deficient on the offensive side in the minors and the majors right now. AND it's a weak FA class for hitters incoming. But a strong one for pitchers. They'll want someone that can help in 2027.
@AMLTDTTM@Mets2026 Even if Skubal is on the market. Teams would see Peralta as a solid alternative that will not require your first born in trade haha.
@AMLTDTTM@Mets2026 Any pitcher that can be someone that starts a game in the playoffs for a contending team, will bring back unusually large value at the trade deadline. That's what the history of trading starters at the deadline looks like. It's almost always good for the team getting prospects
@Mets2026@AMLTDTTM Fair, sure. But I don't think it will be the type of trade mets will be seeking. They will probably try to get one player that can contribute in 2027. Probably a hitter, IMO. They don't really need more pitching.
@AMLTDTTM@Mets2026 Pretty much every sports writer out there thinks mets are going to get a top 100 prospect for Peralta. Teams know they can fleece other teams for pitchers at the deadline because anyone in contention at all wants/needs them. Sellers have the advantage. Look at last year.
